I've seen plenty of examples in life or on tv where a parent stepping in and taking the fight into their own hands has caused more problems either legally or for the kid. So I wouldn't step in and fight for my child, but I don't advocate fighting in the first place (in a physical sense) so I would probably try to stop them from fighting and get them to talk through their problems instead of resorting to violence.

A guy I used to work with told me about his baby's mother sending a bunch of guys to his house to jump him. Him and his father beat the hell out of those dudes together. Either that or his dad came out with a gun and the dude's hauled ***.

Not really. They never bothered him or his dad again. Can't say I blame either one of them for having to go to that extreme. Kids want to be tough guys until someone is willing to go all the way with it

" Sacrifice " ? In what way ? By stepping in ? It all depends on if he / she initiated the fight. If it's a fair fight.......probably not. As long as it's one on one.

Probably means sacrificing your freedom. Yeah, if I had a son, I would go to jail if it meant saving his life. Or daughter.

only if their life was jeopardy.

I've been in my share of fights, sometimes it's more important to let them take the hit to their pride.

I'd have thought getting beaten up would be less of a blow to your pride than being rescued by your mum...

My point was rushing in to save the day doesn't teach them to pick their battles and know when to stand down.
