I would be sad that one I shared all of me with for a decent amount of time is no longer living. I would go not necessarily to "pay my respects" to them, but to be a support structure for their family. Though we don't communicate much anymore, I was considered to be part of the family with all of my exes' families.

I would go to the funeral and a lot more because we have children together and I am still their father. I might feel a little bad, but not much and not for long.
