Also, I really don't have any money to buy a costume.

    You should creatively create a costume, you can with very little money. Don't be lame.

    Pull your t-shirt over your head, poke a couple of eye-holes in it, and go as a ghost.

    Get identical white teeshirts for you and your date. Label one "Peter" and one "Pumpkin" You'll be the hit of they party.

    (Might not be good if this is at a church or something similar.)

    yes of course you should go. You shouldn't have to dress up if you don't want to.
    If it is not a themed party could you just use some of your clothes such as pyjamas and go as wee willie winky?....or use some old clothes and go as a tramp?
    or just go as you and if asked why you didn't get dressed up just say you have and you have come as a clone of yourself.

    Write 'generic costume' and draw a barcode on White t shirt. Problem solved.
