The job scene is changing so you must adapt.
"See a need, fill a need."
Do your neighbors need someone to walk their pets?
Are they going on vacation and need pet sitting services? (water and feed in their home).
Do flower gardens need attention?
Do you know anyone who needs closets or garages cleaned?
You notice the word "need" in each of these examples. Work out how much they are willing to pay and get to it.
Good luck!!!

Well Bob,
It's almost a bit too late for this summer...That is a valuable lesson cause in the future you're gonna start a lot earlier...Like now for next summer. And for every job from here on....try to start a minimum ONE YEAR ahead...For ANY job....People come to me for a job and I ask what have you done to prepare for this and they have nothing....they started thing about it when the job opened. Even when you just get a new job...after a while start thinking about the NEXT.

Next this is about networking whether you're 15 or 30 or 50.
Who do you know? Who have you asked? Who haven't you asked? Who is left to ask?

Focus...Intensity...initiative...Have you spoken to local business leaders? You can't be shy!

What are your interests....Who shares your interests....Cars, bikes, trains, running, football, hobbies....

One of my first best jobs I got after volunteering at a hospital...I wasn't even thinking about a job...the volunteering was set up through my school...when I later applied for a job I got one immediately.....

How about your own gig?
It can be way better than working for the man. Mow lawns, babysit, paint, sell lemonade, Make a poster, wash cars, post flyers...You are only limited by your ambition and imagination! Almost August...this may be your best bet.

One of my favorites...I haven't done this personally but think its cool...intern or apprentice.....What are your carreer goals....Dr., lawyer, indian chief, plumber, electrician? Maybe someone needs a helper for minimum wage...then you can learn at the same time...wish I did that.....

Good luck!

i remember some years ago when i was 14 back in 1995 and was looking for work. try working in a school. that's what i did. social services gave me a work permit and sent me to this school for pregnant teens. i cleaned, answered phones, and there were days i was paid to do nothing but show up.

are you handy? minor home repairs, putting up a picture frame, curtain rods etc always a demand for that ask a local hardware if anyone needs help or put an ad in a convenience store.
also from personal experience, hired a bunch of teens to conduct a survey for me ( market research for a start up) make sure you approach the firm with a professional attitude and properly attired ( I turned away gum chewers, people who looked like hip hop/ rock stars ( sorry - it's business, nothing personal) etc , I wanted a conservative looking person , who was polite and serious minded) - approach a local marketing firm or business consultance.
the intern idea is superb- you can " test drive " a career for the future and make contacts that will serve you well throught university and afterwards as well.

When I was fifteen I had random babysitting jobs and also I would go clean houses. Only for people I knew though. I wasn't allowed to clean strangers houses. But I also had a friend with a boat and I would clean that too. There are barely any jobs for anyone in my area til your atleast eighteen.

All the advice given above is good. Mowing lawn, snow removal in winter, but what about a paper route? Alot of teens I knew growing up and even ones today to the news paper rout's.

I recommend talking to family and friends about job opportunities. The current job market is incredibly competitive, but finding a job where you may already have your foot in the door can make the search a lot easier. The current economy has made perseverance in a job search one of the most important qualities a job seeker can have. Definitely keep at it, as something is bound to work out. Here's an article from Monster.com on marketing yourself to potential employers:

Try to stand out on your application
(I saw this somewhere and do not take credit for the idea)

Where it says Position Desired?

Say Ceo or president of company

Salary Expectations?

Say 185,000 per year with stock options

stuff like that
good luck :)

I have to agree with whattodo09, your 15 take the summer and run with it! Next year you will have a better chance of finding a job because you are over 15. But if you have to work, try painting. They hire younger people to help out a lot, some restaurants will hire you if you have all your paperwork in order, or there is always the good old walking the neighborhood and offering to do odd jobs. Good luck.

I'm sorry, I hate to sound mean but maybe the first thing you should do is learn to spell. I'm not saying that every job needs a person who's a great speller, but the people doing the hiring, are almost certainly going to look at your grammer.
