I met someone from the net. We chatted for 6 months, then moved to phone calls for a few months. After about a year we met in person. Two years later we married... that was 10 years ago :)

As long as you TAKE YOUR TIME and most definitely meet and get to know this person (safely) its possible to build a lasting relationship.

beware of the "ships that pass in the night" - they pray on the naive and/or vulnerable (been there done that as well).

I met another man on the net 10 years ago, we dated a little but, decided being friends was better and 10 years later - we are STILL friends.

Not always a negative experience :)

I don't think it can be love until you've really met him. No one puts all of themselves on line. Just the pieces we want others to see. But its a starting point that isn't based purely on the physical activities, and that HAS to be a better way than meeting someone in a bar.

if he's in the net, shouldn't you try and get him out?

I don't know sweetheart
maybe you just are fond of this man on the internet and are confuising it with love.
Maybe you can spend some real life time together before you claim its love.
Carefull

You are the only person that can truly answer that question. I am in a similar situation myself. I thought it was crazy that I fell in love with someone over the net. To prove that the connection was real, I even flew across the country to see. The minute my eyes locked with his, I knew the feelings I had were real and they were intense. So if you feel love, it most likely is the real thing. But you can only truly confirm that by meeting in person.

What I suspect is that we should never define love. I haven't ever been able to figure out exactly what it means or "when" I am "feeling" it.

The best I can say is if you still like him when the passion is turned down and he's done things that hurt you, then it might be love. If it's just fascination, it might be a crush. (But a crush can lead to love!)

I met my husband (whom happens to be the love of my life) on the net, and it's the best thing I ever did. Don't let the naysayers bring you down...go with your love!
