I just read a book that I'd bypassed on my library shelf for years.. "A tree grows in Brooklyn". Superb.

This is a semi fictional account of my grandmother's sexual slavery at the hands of the Japanese in WWII along with my great grand uncle's revenge.

I hope you like the free sample enough to buy it.

The Memory Palace by Mira Bartok - about a woman struggling with her mother who has mental illness
The Help (I forget the author but excellent book)
Forget you have a Daughter by Sandra Gregory - a young womans story of prison life
Down to This: Squalor and Splendour in a Big-City Shantytown by Shaughnessy Bishop-Stall - a young mans account of Toronto's famous Tent City

All but The Help are awesome true stories. The Help was a great book on it's own.
