Generally, you see people here on Q/A, answer/ask questions, etc..then you might check out their profile if you are interested in them..then you chat privately.. we dont have a chatroom per se....

There's no IRC, although you could make one if you wanted to, I'm sure it would take off. There's usually a chatbar at the bottom of the browser where you can talk one-to-one, it only works with certain browsers though.

This is one giant chat room!! But as you get to meet people you can grow you circle of friends and chat directly with them!
