I'm new here so I apologize... Is it better to quit or be fired?

You'd just give up that easily? Go with no fight? Wow... I've just worked really hard, it's a great job... Thanks to those who responded!!!! Psst... I've been there a yr in a Manager role. I have received positive feedback from others, written and verbal. The only reason I'd quit is if my boss forces me out i.e. harassment which she is currently working on gathering complaints about me.

no job is worth fighting for, find one you can work at and enjoy. let's say you fight for the job and get to keep it, how much tension and resentment will you have to face? work to live not live to work. find a new job while you're working at the old one so it looks like you are trying to better yourself, don't quit before and don't get fired.

if you love the job fight for it, if not get out, quiting is better for the self, and the resume, after being fired it's hard to find a good job in todays market

It depends on the circumstances of which we know little and your length of employment, at least it does in the uk i am only familiar with uk employment law. Me personally if i am right i will fight but be prepared to compromise and listen as there is allways an opposing view point in such matters

IDK. It would depend, on the work enviroment, and if it was a negative one or not!

my understanding is if you're fired you can get unemployment benefits but not if you quit...but the fireing has to be for particular reason...like...laid off kinda'

Why would you apologize for being new here? Contrary to what some members think, no one was born here.
Quit if you don't need unemployment, fired if you need unemployment and dont' care about being questioned as to why in future interviews.

sometimes you get a pay out if your fired

I am a casual cleaner at the moment, the job I had before was on the way out blind freddy could see that so I had picked up a little bit of work before it happened. One day I got to work and walked past bosses office and she glanced at me but I continued on to have a coffee with girls before starting work. (I used to get there 20 minutes early for a gossip before starting work)

On way to my desk she called me in and asked me to close door. I made it easy for her and said time to go is it. LOL she just nodded her head and said sorry. I was a casual there went to work for 12 weeks and ended up staying almost 3 years. Being a casual they didn't need to give me a payout but they treated me like a permanent staff member and gave me a nice bonus.

I have been fired a few times but I think it is better to get fired than to quit. Of course, if you think you are going to be fired do your best to find a new job.. If you just quit without a new job, you will be in the same position with potential employers as if you had been fired (in my opinion). When a company fires someone they generally feel bad about it themselves and the company will also be keen for you to go quietly and often will be happy to confirm your firing is due to restructuring rather than capability issues. Also depending where you live, if you quit you might not get state unemployment benefits. I truly hope you don't get fired. Good Luck!!

If I hadn't left my job I would have been fired. Trust me its horrible am still getting over it. Don't hang aroung if they want you out they will find a way. Get a job then leave, at least you'll get a reference and can put your experience on your cv. If your fired or leave on bad terms you don't have that option.
