Corgi is a great dog. I've had two of them.
Not being around a lot is a bigger issue for puppies, who need to relieve themselves every 2 hours. By the time a dog is an adult they can pretty much survive most work schedules.

get a cat. self suffcient, don't have to clean up poop !!! if you decide on a cat, get a short hair cat. less hairballs. :)
