Just curious, is that a true statement said by someone ?
Affirmative. Mankind suffers from boredom more than ever even though they have more things to do than ever.
No, that's why a bunch of kids being idiots and sucker punching people became national news, even though that's been going on since I was a kid.
Maybe... this is a fun way to kill the boredom...
BTW... I was looking forward to suffering bay... because bay leads to ocean.
I don't mean this like it sounds...but where are we?
I was really asking where you think we are today...so that I can compare it to what Assimov said.
You make a good point. But I do think some of the two go hand in hand. For example, I find your question to be fascinating, and I do enjoy chatting with you, but can you imagine what would happen if I tried to talk to you in a coffee shop? You'd think I were a weirdo. Online, I can prove myself without giving you the feeling I'm a threat. That said, I think that online communication provides for some of the needs that are no longer met socially. People don't hang out with their neighbors or have picnics together like they used to. That's what I"m missing....really missing. This is the closest I get.
For me, they're the best possible replacement. Aside from my coworkers, I really don't have any friends.
No. I don't think it has an impact, except that I learn more about the issues of people from other generations. My kids' mouths drop open when I use terms that they don't think I'd know.
