Real judges in real courtrooms could never get away with verbal abuse that Judge Judy throws at litigants. But her misconduct is part of the entertainment because it is television. Likewise, litigants are not allowed to misbehave in real courtrooms as they do on television. But that too is part of television entertainment. You aren't going to learn anything about law by watching Judge Judy. It is entertainment.

Actually Judge Judy was a "real judge" for years before she got on tv. My dad had some unpaid ticket back in the early 80s and she happened to be his judge.. And she was the same ole Judge Judy back then.

If Judge Judy were a real judge, she wouldn't be getting paid millions of dollars. She would be earning a salary of about $150K, paid by a municipality. The show is arbitration done via reality TV. It isn't a courtroom. True, judges do often misbehave in real courtrooms by being verbally abusive. But they don't hold their jobs for long.
