Lola's a man. The word "queer" is not in the lyrics. He's feeling odd dancing with a man whom he thought was a woman. Not a mental stretch here......

I can't recall that word appearing in the lyrics.But my recollection from 1970 -71,when "Lola" was released,is that many people didn't quite "get" what the song was actually about.At that time, some radio stations here in Australia were nervous about playing it,and a few would not do so.

Well he is dancing w/a guy and Ray Davies or whichever of the Davies brothers that danced w/that man in drag felt odd because he didnt know initially.
