Resolved Question

In what order do you prefer? Read the book, then see the movie? Vice versa?

On many occasions I have read a book and then waited in high anticipation to see the movie only to be disappointed. "Watchmen" has been one of my favorite novels for years, but when I went to see the movie it kind of dulled my impression of the whole thing...

i think.. reading the book first is always good, because you get to imagine the story before you actually see it infront of you, you can make up your own charectors and such..
because if you see the film first, you'll only imagine what you've already see on the screen. so what's the point in reading it?

I try to read the book first. The movie is frequently a dissappointment.

I prefer to read the book first (it's usually better) and then watch the movie. The only down side to that is that usually in the movie they cut and change stuff which is very frustrating.

definitely the movie first!! The book is always better!!!

I read The Other Boleyn Girl and then saw the movie, and it sucked so bad compared to the book.
The sad thing is it wasn't a bad movie, but compared with the book!!! Especially a book written my Philippa Gregory!

Yup, the book first, and as all have already said the movie is usually a huge disappointment.

altho, there have been a few movies that are true Classics from a while ago that were pretty good adaptations, but they were the mega budget movies you don't see much anymore.

I usually read the book first. This gives me the evil power to annoy anyone watching the movie with me who hasn't read the book by saying things like "Hey, that wasn't in the book!" or "Oh man, they left a really cool bit from the book out!"

(Don't worry, I don't do that in movie theaters, only at home.) lol

But seriously, if you read the book first, you get to imagine everything the way you like it, without actors and stuff attached to it.

If it originated as a book, read the book first.
If it was a movie to start with, why read the book tie-in at all?
What's wrong with buying the DVD?
