In which countries the trickle down economy actually works?

When talking with a supporter of the trickle down economy ( you know ... the Government takes care of the ( very) rich and the rich will take care of the poor...) , they have pretty convincing logic on why this system is 'the way' for US. ... Hum, except, it did not went very well when they had everything to prove it back in 2000 ( full majority and presidency) What went wrong?
And second, has anyone taken a critical look at what are demonstrably trickle-down economic systems operating in the world today? It has to be some example of success that inspires so many. Anyone can suggest an example?

It works in ALL of the utopian countries (that don't currently exist) Minor little detail there.

People don't support it because it works, they support it because under that paradigm, the rich get richer, and these people dream of one day being one of those lucky rich bastards.

It doesn't. There trickle down effect is a made up lie. Money doesn't trickle down, it trickles up.

This can be a divisive topic especially with inauguration (that has turned into a festival) tomorrow, but isn't that what the capitalism is about? Capitalism is the cornerstone of democracy. If you don't like it change America. Into socialism or communism???

It works in those fine places where people are so subjugated that you only hear from the tricklers themselves. Can't you just trust what you are told?

I guess it depends on what you mean by "works" and from whose point of view. Warlords in Somalia think it works just fine even though perhaps 90% of the rest of the country don't agree. It is a bogus argument that is refuted over and over again. On the eve of the American Civil War, slave owners made the exact same argument.....everyone was supposedly happy with the whole arrangement so long as you didn't ask slaves how they felt about it. When Ronald Reagan came to office, we were the greatest manufacturing power in the world and nearly everyone who was willing to work was able to enjoy a good life. After nearly thirty years of voodoo economics, our economy is in the crapper and we don't even make pencils and clothes pins here. We even resorted to using illegal immigrants to build a wall to keep their countrymen out of our great nation. We have been led off the cliff by morons who tell us that we are superior to everyone else and claim the French don't even have a word for entrepeneur. We have been dying a slow death for lack of fairness and humility.

Do you really think the rich guys at the top mean for any of the wealth to trickle down? It's a myth to appease the working class.

Government gives rich people money to help the poor. The rich people go on vacation and spend the money for service. "Thanks 4 the $20 tip sir, it sure makes up for the $45 billion The gov't just gave you."

RobertHedrock is right, just a Republican myth inflicted upon us by Ronald Regan. Reaganomics FAILED.
It has never been successful for anyone but the rich.

Bush gave more favors & lenience to corporations than ever before and look how well that has helped the economy. Then granted them Bail Outs? COME ON ALREADY.

W and his entire administration need to be held accountable. AND anyone paid $250,000/yr or more and received Bail Outs needs to pay it all back from their own pockets, that will pour money back into our economy. Ranting, ok, sorry...

YAAY OBAMA.

it only works if you're the one at the top ...

It sounds good. It doesn't work though. The people at the top already have more money than they know what to do with. So, why would giving them more money help anyone else? The money just stays on top. It probably ends up trickling down to their children.
