Have an understanding of yourself, your thought patterns, and modify them. Observe, measure, classify, remodel. Everyone is their own psychiatrist in some way or another if they're healthy mentally, because we all try to steer our mind's patterns into beneficial ones. An old quote I read once is that an intellectual is one whose mind watches itself. One might exchange intellectual with psychiatrist.
This! Love it.
Very well said and insightful. Problem is: who can see themselves objectively, even with measures? Well, Aristotle, St. Augustine. But not Nitchie or Sartre. Still, well worth the effort.
It is being in touch with yourself and self aware...to honestly look at and analyze your true motivations and reason things out. <<--- That sounds complicated lol, but it really isn't.
The mirror is a good place to start.
You could easily do that - of course you'd have a fool as you psychologist!
A person couldn't be his own psychologist because a person's experience is subjective.
Only if he has split personalities
emotionally detaching yourself from the situation
