The past three chicks that i have liked seem interested for the first few months, then seem disinterested. It doesnt feel like the right time to ask them.

    There is no standard time limit for these things, it's all depending on you and the other person. If it doesn't feel right, don't bother! It's never a great idea to go against your intuition. When something feels right you will know.
