No because Atheism is like a religion in itself. Not all Atheists are religious though, in the same way that some Christians aren't.
According to the wikipedia,
Religion is an organized collection of belief systems, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values. Many religions have narratives, symbols, traditions and sacred histories that are intended to give meaning to life or to explain the origin of life or the Universe. From their ideas about the cosmos and human nature, they tend to derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle.
Atheism is accepted within some religious and spiritual belief systems, including Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Raelism, Neopagan movements such as Wicca, and nontheistic religions. Jainism and some forms of Buddhism do not advocate belief in gods, whereas Hinduism holds atheism to be valid, but some schools view the path of an atheist to be difficult to follow in matters of spirituality.
And although an Atheist may not submit himself to the standard ideal of what it means to be religious. They do hold their own organized collection of belief systems, cultural systems, and world views that relate to humanity, etc.
Yes you do really need to have someone who created the world, this is the problem though with reigion, everyone believes something different and causes wars. Buddhism though believes in their savour, buddhist monks for example are your leaders and the type of God you should listen to and believe in.
By definition all religions require faith, dogma, and worship. You can worship a doorknob if you like, but it has be considered the creator of the universe.
Normally though these break down to the basic categories of theism, pantheism, panentheism, and mysticism. At the very least they worship some mystery.
isn't the point on Buddhism that you become a god if you follow it perfectly? I think most religions though have an origin story and that story includes a God or gods. Though that may be changing due to this age of reason and science, and people may just see more and more religions as philosophy and mythology.
lol I was going to say buddhism as an example. I think it is an established religion. there are temples dedicated to it. I really don't believe there has to be a face for everything.
