Is a surprise engagement a good idea?

the guest wont know :) they come then they find out! Sorry I am not clear. My bf and I are thinking of annoucing our engagement on my birthday to everyone so pretty much not holding another engagement party just celebrate my birthday and our engagement on the same day. I guess the birthday is a decoy.

Um... I don't think it's a good idea, but I am socially flawed and like to know what I'm getting into before I go so...

What if the guest decides they don't want to get married. It could be great or it could be a nightmare.

At first I thought you were talking about a proposal in which my response would be definitely because it would be spontaneous and exciting for both individuals. However reading the finer text you are talking about throwing a surprise event for a bunch of guests?!!

I would say not the best idea, but an interesting one. Usually a surprise event is for one individual that is attending the party, if you are throwing a surprise event for all your guests I would say not the best idea because most people prepare for events and parties (from their outfit, perfected grooming (most people, especially women, do their hair nice, nails perfected and make-up flawless when attending a larger event). Guests would need to know what to bring and for how many.

All the power to you though because it is an interesting idea!

Yes, if the engagement involves weaponry and a doughty enemy.

Dawn is a good time.

The rules of engagement are not prescriptive on this point.

I think everyone else does not understand what you are saying! I think you are saying you will announce your engagement at your birthday party, and that this partyu will serve as a double celebration - for both the birthday and the engagement. Is that correct?

If so, I think it is a great idea!! I'm sure I would be thrilled for you both if I was one of the guests - after all, they already know you and care about you!

Just be sure to include important people of your boyfriend's - like his family and close friends. Leaving someone out might cause ill feeling.

I wish you both every happiness.

Making an announcement at your birthday is not a bad idea, unless your families do not approve of your relationship, in that case. NO.
