It was founded by Christians--Columbus and the Spaniards (the nation itself was founded by mainly Deists)

The laws are based on Judeo-Christian values

It was colonized by Christians (the Puritans and other Christian outcasts)

The majority of the population claims to ascribe to Christianity

Landmarks were named after Christian based figures, some of the names were later changed, though.

So, I would say it is a somewhat Christian nation with presidents who claim and have claimed to be Christian but who spit in the face of religious teachings by promoting gay marriage, abortion and corrupt morals.

whats wrong with gay marriage you ****!! thats why people from all over the world come to america.. cuz we are free to decide for ourselves.. cuz we are free to beleive what we want and do with our teachings what we think is best.. we do not force anyone to follow a sertain standard.. and im hearing this from a cristian mentioning columbus as the finder of america when the ******* idiot died thinking he had arrived to india.. and you cristians think youre so smart

I find it hilarious that you're blubbering about intolerance whilst resorting to insulting me. Gay marriage is counter to Christian beliefs, as I pointed out. Settle down and don't go into a tizzy just because your professors and the media have instilled in you a fierce hatred for anyone who does not believe what you do.

America, like Canada, was founded on christian values but has grown and expanded to include all religions and cultures. Unfortunately, those same people who came here to escape persecution in their countries have now decided that we should adopt their out-dated customs.

America is a debased nation, plain and simple.

This nation has lost any sense of morals and right values that it MAY have once had, plain and simple.

If we went by the beliefs of the framers of the Constitution would you find that offensive? I would think those beliefs would still be pertinent to today as there is still a religious war going on and liberties are being squelched by government.

Best Answer

Sadly... No.

Best Answer

No. It was, but now it seems to be leaning towards Atheism.

Best Answer

no it is not a "Christian" nation...never was....this insidious notion that somehow the framers of the Constitiution were ever basing it on"Judeo-Christian" principles has obviously not read the Document...the use of 'Their Creator' not 'The' shows just how important the Separation of Church and State was to the principle of freedom 'From' religion...Remember they were the children/grandchildren of people that held beliefs that were illegal or oppressed religions....so it was with a profound sense of freedom From State recognized/enforced religious beleifs that they composed these laws.

the Constitution is based on English Common Law....as well as radical political philosophies that were prevailent during the Enlightment...

Best Answer

Yes it is. half of the begining of our presidents were christians.

Best Answer

Neither a nation nor christian

Best Answer

Absolutely NOT

What makes you think it is? Our Constitution was written by Deists who carefully eliminated any reference to Christ. Our early laws resembled Hamurabi's code more than they resembled the 10 commandments. Just no reason to think of this as a Christian nation (thankfully!!).
