bush wasted no time racking up debt
obama took office.

still bush's fault.

Best Answer

Yea sorry but it still stinks Bush.

Best Answer

Actually Clinton didn't hand over a balanced budget, he handed over a PROJECTED balanced budget that had no leeway in it for something the 9/11 attack ot Katrina.

Best Answer

Actually the whole Clinton "balanced budget" was a lie. Look at the National debt during the Clinton years. It went up and up and up. We just borrowed from the Government side and paid the public side. Same money, different bank accounts.

Actually it's more Reagans fault if anything, he's the one who set up the economy to make rich people richer which is why average Americans have seen, at best, thirty years of wage stagnation. Yes the economy has grown but the economic growth has only benefitted corporations and wealthy individuals, the only thing that's gone up for average Americans is taxes as the tax balance is progressively shifted onto the middle and lower classes.

Money has flooded into the US economy but sadly very little trickles down and Americans have only reccently realised that the bankers are ok, the CEO's and execs are ok, politicians are ok but everyone else is suffering.

Thing is you can bet your bottom dollar that Obama is doing just what his predecessors did when they wanted economic advice: he asked big business. If you want to blame Obama for something it should be for seeking the usual American solutions which are usually economic disasters for the people they're inflicted upon; you only have to see the destruction wrought on the economies of developing countries by the IMF and world bank to see that.

The thing is that even if Obama wanted to do something different, and I don't think he's intellectual enough to think to do something different, then the American people would start something like the Tea Party which is funded by corporations to pressure politicians into doing the bidding of big business as indeed is all politics.

It's not like Bush, Clinton, Bush and Reagan said to the market "Go out and do really dumb things with economy" it's the fact that big business which is the dominant force in the economy isn't smart enough to see past short term profits, nor does it care about the interests of America as a whole, if they look at their bottom line and it looks good they're happy and these are the guys that Obama has to answer to if he wants funding.

So it's not really any one president, it's the system and the way it has American's believing that any seperation of corporate and political power is socialism and that socialism is locking everyone up in gulags and that state subsidised capitalism is free market capitalism and that the existance of free market capitalism means everyone is free. Whereas in reality it means that everyone exists in a tyrannical system where unelected corporations tell the president and congress what to do, threaten them with something like the tea party and then declare it freedom.

Obama has done more damage in two years than Bush did in 8 and Bush had The 9/11 attack and Katrina to deal with. With Irene bearing down on him Obama did nothing.
Obama is the best President that the Teleprompter Operators of America could provide.

In response to Kinghtwhispers comment, the national debt started out of control the very first time we(the country) borrowed money. Pretty simple equation: I have $50 dollars for groceries for the week. If I spend $50 the I have a balanced budget. I cut some of the goodies from my shopping cart if I can't afford it within the alocated $50. As for social security, our government has stolen the money the elderly put into ss all of their working life to waste on other things(like pork projects) and gimmes for peoples votes. The problem is(has been) it wasn't the governments money to spend: it was ours. Had this same money for each American been placed in an interest-bearing account and left alone, seniors would have enough to live on once they retired. It is evident that 534 members of congress and one president are 'crooks'.
Lets try and take some common sense ( I know is impossible for every democrat in the damn country!), but the reality is that Bush had a tremendous amount of hell to deal with in Katrina, 9/11, the two wars that followed, just to name a few but, the fact is that even after all of that , he was still able to balance the budget or at least somewhat manage it in a reasonable manner. I do agree that Obama and Congress needed to activate another stimulus but, to go out and say $774 billion (OBAMA!) is what we need to spend to get the country running and people back to work is irresponsible and utterly stupid and if you people can't see that you are a moron. So yes the economy wasn't that great when Obama took office and maybe you can blame Bush a little bit,but take responsibility for your own failures ( failed stimulus package, failed green energy policies, crushing the housing market,******* everybody in NJ and New York after hurricane Sandy for days, lying about Benghazi and doing nothing to help even as our ambassador was murdered in cold blood by radical Islamic terrorist and the n Lie about it to the American people by blaming it on a YouTube video post and then have Hillary Clinton take the fall order to save your *** for another term. Mr president stand up, be a ******* man and a leader take responsibility for YOUR failed economy and stop blaming your predecessor! As for all you other democratic dumb assess GO **** YOUR SELVES!!!

Ok let see... what has hurt the economy of the US the most...... answer (the only answer) the price of Fuel... our consuption has not gone down ...)except to the point the manufacturing is using less because they are producing less)
In 8 years or Bush... price at the pump went from $1.29 to $1.79 50 cents in 8 years... part of why many were pissed at the GOP... the cost of fuel was killing them...
in 3 years Obama ... price at the pump $1.79 to $3.79 $2.00 in less than 3 years.... Hmmm there is no way you could tax the poor more than raising the cost of fuel... NOTHING... toss on top of that ethanol... the biggest HOAX ever... uses more fuel to produce than it creates ... and makes the cost of food go up... ... screws up the fuel systems in older cars (ie think cash for clunkers) and all these things the the democrats do to "help" the poor end up screwing them every time... Obama is on record as saying "I'd like to see $5.00 a gallon gas" even at $5 gallon it wouldn't make Solendra work... or electric cars work... between manufacture and life cycle... a ****** is more GREEN than a VOLT... never let the Facts get in the way of a good story...
at some point you just have to say "yes i was wrong my passion got in the way and Obama is not the second coming"

What the hell? Everything is *every* Politicans fault who ever had the power to govern the Nation. Each successive Leader inherits the previous Leader's shortcomings. And it goes on, and on, and on. Did the US almost go bankrupt overnight during Obama's leadership? I don't think so. When did the National Debt start spinning out of control? Do you think it was Bush or Obama who caused it to get out of hand?
It's all Bushes fault- starting with the day he stole the election. It was a sad day since for Republicans- I had such a high regard for them, but now it seems there is no party with ethics anymore.

I blame Congress. Yes, the president has final say so but Congress is not creating the right plans/bills to help the american people. Congress is comprised of rich people who want to stay rich so our future gets overshadowed by their greed. They are basically trying to overthrow the president's authority. They argue with Obama like he's not the president. It's so damn digusting and disrespectful. Congress fails "us" the american people and we turn around and sock it to Obama. Americans better realize who's truly at fault and stop acting like little kids.
