I think maturity comes from the things you've experienced in life, rather than how long you've been alive. Its true that a lot of times age and experience go hand in hand. But its not always the case. Other than it depending on how old someone is, i think it simply depends on the person....

I think it can be both. I think we call someone with untutored maturity an 'old soul'. What does that mean? Is it just a metaphor for something we intuit, but can't explain? I don't know...and I'm speaking as a very old soul.

some of it is innate. For instance, siblings growing in the same home and environment have different personalities because their consciousness are at different levels.

It's both really. Some of it is chemical changes to brain chemistry. Another part is learning how to do things as the body can no longer do things via the brute force method. But then there's the perspective which can lead to wisdom. That only comes from experience. From trying and failing, from trying again and maybe failing again, but maybe succeeding. From watching the cycles of life. From stopping to smell the flowers. From seeing the beauty even in the bleakest scenes.

Some people are simply born mature (like me) however, it can be taught through life experiences. Just because I'm mature, it does not also mean I'm proper and very posh. It just means... I.... I don't know what it means..
