Isn't religion about trying to get right with god, whereas Christianity says you don't ahve to try, its already done?

No, I think it's the opposite lol. Religion is politicized spirituality. You don't need religion to be spiritual.

I view it as a philosophy- and it is. Because there is no one set rule to being a Christian, like there is with religions. In religion, you must do as they do. Anyone, anywhere can be a Christian.

Its a religion. It can be described as having a philosophy but this fails when the basic principles of philosophy, critical analysis and rational arguement, are applied. it is a faith based on a written collection of testaments and statements.
