Best Answer

It's got to be causing them...look at what it does to the Earth....Man is running this place into ruins just because of Oil....greed and capitalism is going to ruin our children's futures...

Best Answer

No, but frakking is causing eruptions.

Best Answer

Not major earthquakes, most frac jobs only pump around 100 cubic meters of sand (proppant) and gel/water through the reservoir, the downhole pressure is in the region of 15,000 pounds per square inch, in the scheme of things when comparing the volume of voids underground and the overburden pressure of something like 15 to 30,000 pounds per square inch the affect is insignificant on a wider area.<br />
However frakking shallow oil or gas wells is dangerous i.e. Well where the reservoir is at 600 to 1000 meters deep as fracture propagation can easily travel upwards and cause instability in shallow formations.

I think so.

depends on how you define earthquakes. I don't think that's one of the proven sideeffects
