    The geocentric theory, (sun revolves around the earth), was promulgated by ancient people in the middle east and in European areas. Other parts of the world understood that the earth revolves around the sun (heliocentric).

    Geo means earth or rock.
    Helio means sun.

    okay, im not sure becuase i am studying and it says nothing in the chapter im reading. i keep getting the two mixed up. one has the earth as the center of our solar system and the sun as the center.

    well if you think of it like geo = geology what would mean earth centric. and helio means sun.
