It is better to have loved and lost, because I suppose if you haven't loved, you haven't lived. To love and to have been loved is something that everyone should experience. It's all part of being human and being alive.

Love is like the measles , we all have to go through it.. some keep it always and become healthy and some lose it and then miss him whole life..

It is so much better to have loved and lost. There is nothing better than true love and to have experienced this is divine. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Imagine the wealth of experience you can bring to a new love once you've loved and imagine the lessons you will have learned.

Defenetly better to be loved once and lost it, means that your more likly to find someone else later, and that your lovable (even know it's painful)

I think so :]
It's better to have tried & failed than to not have tried at all.
Applies to all areas of life. Not just love.

Better to have loved & lost. At least you are putting yourself out there to experience life, love and sometimes the consequences.

Absolutely it is better to have loved and lost--it hurts like a son of a gun--but we grow from each experience-

Better to have loved and lost. Some losses are harder to bear than others, but the alternative of not loving because your afraid you will lose that love is something I could never do. I lost the love of my life, and never thought I would love anyone like that ever again but that turned out to be wrong -- I have met some of the most wonderful people on EP and they have really helped turn my life around. They helped me realize I would definitely find a special love again!

i think it's better to have loved and lost. atleast for that time in your life you actually knew how it felt to love, and be loved.

i consider this on an individual basis with each relationship so, for me, it depends on the person... i have loved someone before and they died... i even loved someone who was honest and admitted that he didn't think he could be enough for me... he wasn't ready for the type of relationship i was... those i do believe it was better to have loved. now, if it's the typical dude who will lie, steal, and cheat to get into bed with u then i don't think so... i would rather be alone than deal with those types of dudes.

As someone who recently lost the girl he thought was his future I would say "never to have loved at all". My main reason for this is that before her I was very happy and content being without a partner, I can't say I was alone because I have soo many great friends, but now that its over all I can think about is how great it was when we were together and all the plans we had that are now shattered like broken glass. I was happy before. I'm not happy now. Best reason for never loving at all I can think of.

No. We can only truly love others if we first love ourselves, and most love ourselves always. Therefore we will never loose love.

I think it is better to love and lost then to never have loved at all. Without some type of experience in love, I think people are empty, emotionless souls just looking for a purpose. Atleast when you have experienced love once, you will always have those memories. And in this evil and sometimes cruel world, it is very important to have memories. I really believe that our past relationships, make us a better person. They make us who we are.

I have a hard time letting go. In my experiences, I have loved and lost and ended up still in love but lost.
I disagree with Mr. Tennyson - I would have rather spared myself the wasted years of moping over lost loves to concentrate on something more productive - like getting an education. Or traveling. Or learning how to cook. Or learning how to correctly pluck my eyebrows. Instead here I am - bushy eyebrowed, microwaving queen, never been farther than the city limit - without an education.
Damn exes.
