It's cruel to get an old man all mixed up like that.
It is kind to be "cruel." I learned this the hard way. It takes a lot of courage but it's the right thing to do for both people involved. Boy, oh boy, if I only could do it over again.
I bet you've never heard this song before:
You say you gotta be
Cruel to be kind, in the right measure
Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign
Cruel to be kind, means that I love you
Baby, you gotta be cruel to be kind.
It is cruel to be kind to those who know they have done wrong. Those who wish to be punished for what they have done to get over it but are not given that opportunity.
The cruelest I have ever been to someone was when I forgive them. Never had I seen someone so emotionally torn apart about something than when I honestly forgave them for what they had done and was willing to move past it.
I forgave them and destroyed their life in the process. They where counting on me to be angry and enraged. They wanted me to be disgusted and hateful so that I would no longer be a part of their life. They didn't want me to be a part of their life but refused to have themselves be the one to blame.
Never had to make that decision, but others were to me.
It's cruel to be kind - when you know being kind is cruel. When I'm extra nice to people who try to ruin my day, just to make them even more angry that their attempt is failing. (:
I vote that it's kind to be kind and cruel to be cruel and the truth is always the best.
