Is it fair to offer alcohol to a 17 year old boy and not a 16 year old girl?

An awkward scenario at my friends house. My friend who is 16 was not offered a drink, but her father offered her partner (17) a drink. We all get that it's illegal, forget the legalities. It's in a home environment. Is this fair? Should he be offered a drink and not her?

Looking at the fairness only and putting aside for the moment other considerations, I'd have to say definitely not. Probably to do with her being his daughter

Home or not, it's still illegal but I get what you're saying and no, not fair.... Get this..... I told my dad I wanted to buy a gun and he got nearly hostile about how I shouldn't do it..... I was trained in the Navy to use, disassemble and reassemble a .45 cal.... However, when my brother told him the same thing, they went gun shopping almost immediately....

Perfectly fair IMO. Everyone knows it's not acceptable for a guy to get a 16 year old girl drunk.

Hmmm no. But in my mind, that 17 year old guy has probably done worse than drinking. He's no doubt done all types of drugs. In my mind the girl has a pretty clean slate.

But it's still not fair. Perhaps they didn't want to insult her by assuming that just because he drank she did.

I don't care about the slates, forget their slates, forget anything like that. Just remember boy and girl. I was pretty disgusted.

I wouldn't offer either of them drinks. 17 is basically 16 but closer to being legal.

I refused a drink (considering the younger girl's feelings) but he accepted and then preceded to ignore her and chat with the father afterward. Snotty Big boys Club on the couch.
