I dont exercise on my period. It makes me feel gross. :P
My old p.e. teacher said it actually helps with cramps! Just wear a tampon!
I think it's fine. It helps me work through it, you'll be more concentrated on the work-out and be able to better ignore your period. *Unless you have some horrible menacing pains*
im a guy so i really dont know but i would think no rest is the best idea since your body is working and going through its cycle and stuff but again i dont know much about that sort of stuff

Honestly, when it's that time of the month for me, I skip the gym entirely until it's over.
No clue but what do you do at the gym? Cardio or a bit of everything or do you lift?
Cool I'm a runner both cross country and track but also lift weights and such
