Is it normal for someone at the age of 23 to experience Sciatica?

Best Answer
Sciatica is a layman's term for a pinched nerve that can cause pain that runs from the buttocks down the back of the leg. It is not age induced as far as I have ever been told in my professional career. I had sciatica pain during both of my pregnancies due to the position that my boys were in. Don't worry. But do go to the doctor and see what can be done for you:-)

Definitely. Sciatica is not age-specific. I have had it......ugggggggh..... difficult to get rid of. I was helped by a small child walking on the back of my leg while I laid on the floor on my stomache... sounds weird, but helped... pain meds don't seem to do much... good luck....
Oh... I also found stress made the condition worse.... do your best not to worry... easier said than done, huh.....take care...

Yes, it is quite common. You can try some Advil and heat combined with some stretching...but a trip to the doctor is most likely in order.

yes, you can. my first bout with it was when i was 20. i was at a b-day party, sitting down and went to stand up when all of a sudden this pain shot across my lower back and it felt like someone pushed me back down into my seat! i was miserable until i went to the chiropractor and after several sessions, i felt much better. it was the only thing that helped me get over the pain. if you haven't been to one, try it.

I have it periodically too and I am in my 20's. I used to go to the chiropractor for it but for me it made it worse. I then went to physical therapy and they helped much more. It can be caused by different things and unfortunately anyone can get it. You should definitely get help for this because it can get very painful. I was to the point that I could hardly walk it hurt so bad. Like I said, I recommend physical therapy. Tell your doctor and he/she can refer you.
