Is it okay for Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner to be a tax cheat and take the job?

Do you believe that he over looked his responsibility? Do you believe he actually uses TurboTax and not a high paid CPA/Tax lawyer? Do you really believe you would be treated as well by the IRS if you said it was an oversight?

Well, I would say his thinking is pretty indicative of the thinking that most financial types have, and that is what has gotten us into this mess. Still, Geithner has been the head of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for the past six years, and has been a key participant in the decisions made by the Bush administration to deal with what is turning out to be the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, so we probably need him and that is why he will be confirmed with bi-partisan support.

It's ok for every other kind of cheat to be in the jobs and positions they hold so what is one more, really?

Well the one thing that I do believe is that....Our country ids going to hell in a hand bag.....And if Obama still put the offer on the table after learning that he did not pay his taxes.....or he really believed that it was just an honest mistake....Well Heaven help us as we have a real stupid President......But with seeing just who is in the Cabinet...And how many were in Clintons....Well I think that Hillery has found a way to try to be the first one that serves 6 terms as President.....two of her truely own....and four behind the curtans......

HEy Osama....Come out come out where ever you are....Obama is in the house...You can take over now.....

No!!! That's like taking Tony Montana and making him the head of the DEA. It's not a wise choice.

This April 15th, I'm not going to file my tax return. I'm going to just mail a one page note that says, "I apologize!"

[Apparently, if we apologize, then everything is okay ;-) ]

I don't believe his story. I don't believe that he is irreplacable, either. If Obama is standing on ethics, then pay this guy for consultation, and pick another Secretary.
If the administration and congress believes Geithner's story, (I know two friends who made a similar mistake who were in foreign services), they did what they had to - PAY UP, and TRY TO GET IT RIGHT FROM NOW ON!

I think someone else should be chosen, even if it was an honest mistake. But the people who tell Pres. Obama what to do already have it in their minds to keep this man for the job.
