We do it to god all the time call him lord and whatnot
You get a better response if you are personal and are real friends

Oh, i can ask him but i wanted to know how a majority of people feel about it.. like i have 5-6 people who use nicknames more than their real name.. i can't ask everyone the same question.. :P

Why not? It is a matter of respect. If your friends answer when being addressed by nicknames than it is safe to assume it is acceptable.

Sounds formal though.. I do call some people by their names just because I dont feel comfy around them to call them by their nick names :)
