It's called narcisism and there are an astounding amount of people out there possessing those traits
Sounds kinda like schizoid personality disorder, AKA what people mean when they said "antisocial."<br />
That, or sociopathy. But the chances the person you're thinking of is legitimately a sociopath are probably pretty slim.

I think it would be impossible to love someone without being concerned for their feelings. That does not mean that things you do would take into account theirs or anyone or everyone elses' feelings. If you always took into account everyones feeling, you would never get anything done, nor could you do anything.<br />
You certainly could not care about someone who you knew only casually. To not care about the feelings of someone who you knew, is to not have a conscious.
I think they even have a word for that. Sociopath. But I doubt he was one. Some young males just have a tendency to brag about their emotional immaturity.
It isn't a result of being hurt in the past. Not having ANY feelings of remorse or sympathy for others is a sign of sociopathy
