Is it possible to be both modest and confident?

By definition it is impossible. (I've noticed that I am the only one to say this so far). Definitions include words self-conscious, moderate, ordinary, small, unexceptional and limited. These words contradict that of confidence. You need to believe in yourself to be confident. Outside of the written facts I will use myself as an example. I am confident and I have no problem admitting it. Some people believe that if you are not modest then it means you are arrogant. I don't believe this. I find no problem in people admitting their abilities.
I believe the true question should be "what is better, to be modest or confident?" I'm confident that I will be a minority in saying confidence as modesty has been given a positive vibe in most peoples minds. I doubt most even realise its full meaning.Like (2)

Yes. Confidence doesn't have to be egotistical and arrogant.

For sure, modesty doesn't have to mean insecurity, it could just be politeness.

Of course. Also, to me modest is more about actions than attitude. Confidence is the other way around. I can be 100% confident that I will do a great job on something, but that doesn't mean I run around acting like "heyyy I'm such a superstar". I can quietly do a great job on the task with confidence while also being modest.
I also think it is important to point out false modesty and false confidence are merely fleeting and mask insecurity.Like (1)
