Yes alcoholism isn't a weakness in the will power. It is a desase. It is how the brain wire the reword and the pleasure system.

Physically, yes. There is also the psychologically addictive personality. If you think you may have a predisposition to alcoholism, it's best to abstain completely. Try to get "addicted" to something that is good for you, like exercise, healthy eating, or meditation.

There certainly seems as though it's possible. I have several alcoholics in my family so I avoid alcohol consumption.

I believe they have found a gene for that. Something about how you metabolize sugar, I think. Believe it makes you more likely to be diabetic, also.

it seems to be so. my aunt (by marriage) died of alcoholism at age 42 and both of her parents were alcoholics, but maybe it was learned behavior?

There is predisposition genetically to alcoholism.
