Resolved Question

Is it possible to be suicidal but not depressed?

It's not denial of feelings or symptoms. I just don't feel it. Numbness or peace? I don't know. There's scant lethargy & some lack of motivation only.
My thoughts only verbalize in fights with my fiance. I tried the counselor thing, but I won't be medicated, so the truth is hidden. Lately, I think about it daily. At times, it takes me over.
I have 2 teens, a great job...a life. I never had it so good! If I made this known, it could ruin my life. Pride, I know. Friday, I had something very bad happento me... still no emotion. How is that possible? I can never tell anyone about that either & even if I could, I can't do anything about it now anyway. The proof is gone. It's now a part of the ghost that's me.
I force myself to do, do do than I do compulsively. Example: I worked 17.5 hrs. yesterday with only a 15 minute break once. This lack of ability to spread myself evenly.
So this site has my ip, but I have no plan, so my hope is that my confidentiality is safe.

I think that a lack of emotions is due to too many emotions expereinced over a long period of time. It can leave us numb. Emotionless. Like we are all used up. Cant take anymore.
Do not give suicide any substance in your life.
This will pass but you need to talk to someone about all the things that have injured you, caused you pain and then LET IT GO.

maybe you are depressed, but just don't feel the mood part of it?

numbness and lack of feeling are a symptom of depression. You could be clinically depressed and never feel sad because you feel nothing at all.

Have you ever considered going into some other type of therapy (that doesn't involve meds)? to figure out why you can't feel? that could help, if you figure out the reasons behind these feelings (or lack thereof).

I think that the reason you arent feeling any emotions, happy or sad (i am guessing) is because you are keeping yourself so busy, so that you do not have time to feel anything - whether you are doing it purposly or not.

It is never a smart idea to commit suicide. it is possibly the most selfish act your commit. would you want your children or fiance to live the rest of their lives thinking it was their fault you decided to call it quits? You do need to think about other people.

However, I do think you are probably feeling depressed but just dont know it - like i said. There is no need to go on medicine if you dont want to, but talking about your feelings with a professional does not hurt at all. in fact if you keep going, it may make your suicidal feelings go away and give you a grasp on the reality around you

Well I know with men without them even noticing, they won't feel something right away, it could be weeks or a month until you look back and finally feel something towards what has happened or what you have done. If it's not something that you can fix now, then forget about it. If it's not fixable, you have to move on. As for the depression/suicide thing, I think your going to be okay. If you try anything along the lines of suicide then I would think you need some help. You know your spreading yourself to thin, take more breaks, your entitled, even if you don't want to you need to have a breathe in peace. This is a very confidential site, If you explained more about what happened to you on Friday, I think you will be surprised on the positive responses you will receive.

you need to get to the doctor NOW and probably be hospitalized. go directly there. you must NOT kill yourself because it will completely DESTROY the lives of those around you. i don't care how mad you think you are at people who love you you MUST go to them and ask for help. i IMPLORE you to do so IMMEDIATELY!

Yes.

Self destructive tendencies are not always related to depression.

Romanticizing your own demise, or wondering what it would be like without your own presence in life is something that many people struggle with.

I can't say if you are suffering from depression or not but I would urge you to see a doctor to discuss how you are feeling. Confidentiallity will ensure you won't lose anything from that discussion.

If you are unwell and need treatment then if you go now you will be treated without disrupting your work - if it is depression and you leave it until your work is affected it might be more difficult for you, so do go soon.

There is nothing to lose by seeking advice and if it is depression it does need a doctors care. For your own sake and for your family take advice from a doctor. If it turns out that it is depression, then the great thing is that with a little care you can get all the pleasure back into your life. It is well worth it! XXX
