Is it possible to go to uni if you have social anxiety?

Ok just to clarify uni- is university. I have applied to uni and been accepted- I don't mean to suggest that one wouldn't get a place at uni because of this. In fact, I didn't put it on my application. I am more asking if it is possible to be successful at uni whilst having social anxiety. And if it's possible to be happy whilst there and stick it out. My sister quit because she couldn't hack it and I'm worried that it will be too hard for me. Anyone with experience of going to uni with social anxiety would be appreciated.

WEll I don't know what UNI is. However, social anxiety is is not a mental illness. People with social anxiety are not mental. At least, I don't call it a mental illness. And why would social anxiety prevent you from being denied admission to anyplace? If you are denied admission because of social anxiety, that would be to me, discrimination.

heatherxx	Posted Jul 2nd, 2009 at 10:46AM Upper Iowa University? Well, if thats what your talking about- I've gone up there several times to party, everyone there is very accepting and very social. I was outside smoking a cigg and people came up and invited me to a kegger. You WILL make friends, trust me, you just need to not get distracted by partying, and making sure that you pay attention to your studies. Rated: +1Vote for this!
