Is it possible to loose ur virginity to a girl if you're a girl yourself?

Technically yes you can, because it is considered a sexual experience but with the same gender. A penis is a penis, you can't lose your virginity just with that, but when you're with the guy you do lose your virginity. So why can't it apply for same gender sex since you are having a sexual experience with that other person?
