Long story OK...but from my humble job picking tommies,.i took a full crate of freebies,.plus a crate of old jars from abandoned farmhouse...The car broke down so i continued to the city (200 miles)...by hitch-hiking...with the crates...once there i borrowed a friends kitchen and made 20 or so nice jars of tommy sos..("ketchup")...I gave half of them away and took the rest back to my shack in the bush,..where they lasted well,.despite the lack of a fridge or any power...I would make cheese sangers,.with 'somebody elses home'..made sauce (sos)...End of story...which is all true.

It took me a while to work out a recipe, but yes, absolutely. You can even make it from tomatoes instead of canned paste, you just have to cook them down (reduce them) for a long time.

Certainly and if you have allergies to the nasty chemicals that are put in the commercial varieties, you can leave those bits out.
