I don't think so, because for me intelligence is the capability and willingness to study, learn, analyze and reflect things. Ok..analyzing skills can be enhanced and learning improved, but the willingness might always be the same. This is a complex topic.

This is much clearer: Intelligence is the skill to acquire and apply knowledge.

Maybe more smart, but not more intelligent.

Of course. Intelligence is about being constantly curious, seeking answers, and reviewing what you find critically. Read, learn from others, be humble, and don't sto pasking questions.

The differentiation between being smart and intelligence is that smart people have a lot of knowledge where as intelligent people are capable of using said knowledge. I would say that there is a spectrum where a person may know more than they utilize and on one end and another where they look like they are idiots but sadly are tapping their resources. I however do not think that there is a fair answer to this question.

Of course it is! You are never too old to read something, and research the subject and extend your knowledge, and then seek to employ it thereby becoming more intelligent!

I believe that pure intelligence is set somewhere, early in life. I do however, believe that one can always become more knowledgeable. I also believe that reasoning, communication skills and the ability to draw conclusions can be developed throughout your life.

Or you can follow my Dad's advice, as I have...Be polite and quiet and nobody will ever know what an idiot you are.....

You can't increase your intelligence but you can increase your ability to use it to it's full potential. For example trying to increase your intelligence by doing IQ tests will just make you better at doing IQ tests, it won't make you more intelligent. Increasing your knowledge base can make you appear more intelligent but that's a false assumption. In that aspect it's important to understand that intelligence is not a simple single factor, just because someone is fantastic at maths does not mean they are fantastic at chemisty.. increasing your knowledge base enables you to find areas where you can fulfill your potential. Imagine all the Mozarts who have died because they never had a music lesson or all the Einsteins who have lived as itinerant farmers because they never had a proper schooling. Most people fail to live up to their potential, their innate intelligence due to a lack of exposure to opportunity and a lack of education (knowledge building). To become more intelligent, to be more potent, try to do as much as you can, experience all that you can and sooner or later you'll find something that you are naturally gifted at and then people will say, "gosh, he's a bright one!"

Knowledge is a collection of facts. Intelligence is the ability to gather and synthesize those facts. Wisdom is the ability to use those abilities for the greatest purpose.

All of these can be improved. But none of it is easy.
It starts with challenging yourself. Go and read a book that you have trouble understanding. Push through it. By the time you are done, your ability to process information of that kind will have improved. It takes time, but it can be done.

Just learning facts does not make a person smarter. There are exercises you can do to help you think more clearly, but will not augment your over all intelligence, only how well you tap into what you have.
