Is it racist, to point out that all groups are discriminated against, just in different ways?
Had a disagrement on here yesterday with someone, because while I agreed that blacks, went through some awful crimes and continue to today. That they are not the only ones that are discriminated against, and that everyone experiences prejudice just on different levels. And that we all deserve fair and equal treatment.
Apparently.... this was my racist strategy, to undermine their struggle, and from that point everything I wrote was held against me as being racist. Can someone please explain this to me, she was very upset and made little sense? Or any others thoughts about it?

Its odd sometimes how those who cry racism the loudest are themselves most guilty...

No offense, but if you are black you would take offense too! I grew up around the hood and have watched several friends arrested for being black! In America we have boat loads of racists-take your pick. There are just as much white criminals as there are black-it is just that whites goto a posh golf resort while the blacks serve hard time-just like in the slave days almost. When they get to prison like with anyone they to pick a race and you stick with that race or be killed. Jails are not justice-the real criminals still run the streets-they are called cops-biggest crooks in Los Angeles. Yeah you can rest easy when you are white-just do not get caught being black.

I don't care about racism these days. I just want to know if a statement is true or not. If it's true and racist then it's just as valid as if it were true and not racist.

I agree with you completely. That is not racist in any way. It is just the truth. This is the 21st century and some people just need to stop playing the race card.
We are all getting really sick and tired of it.Like (2)

I've been discriminated against because I am a woman and my husband has been discriminated against because he's a while male, but the results of discrimination seem to be the same for every group. Just the words used to justify the discrimination are different when they are directed at me then when they are directed at my husband. People say things like "A woman can't do that" about me and they say "white males get all the breaks" about my husband. Different, but the same results..

I think you all have over simplified the question. I have been called Racist several times by people who knew nothing about me least of all my skin color. One person went on a tirade calling me a rich white racist when I disagreed with some of President Obama's policies. They repeated the same line I've read here about white males having all the power, during a discussion of our Black president arguably the most powerful man in the world.
There has to be something much deeper at play for them to immediately jump to assumptions about things that they couldn't possibly know about me simply because I disagreed with them on some minutia.Like (1)

Here's the part you seem to be missing: while discrimination exists among and toward all groups, the white race, esp white males, have controlled the power structure in the US since the beginning (as well as the UK, Canada, etc...). The power and control exerted by this white supremacist system is the difference. It is also the reason for much of the prejudice against whites - because we have had this power for so long and used it to the detriment of so many - leading to serious distrust that will take a very long time to overcome.
UPDATE: I think we have to try and understand where other folks are coming from. Why do they feel this way? Why is there no trust? And move forward from there - with dialogue if possible. Of course, there are always going to be hard core racists with whom you cannot even discuss the subject - like the KKK here in the US. But I think we have to start one-on-one, and we have to try and understand each other.Like (1)

What was the conversation about? Was it a contest? Which group is more discriminated against than the other? **sheesh**
Of course you weren't racist.
Just to be clear. Yes, I am white. My husband is ethnically Indian.Like (1)

I think you are deffinitly right.
Why would it be racist if:
1. You're not saying you agree with anything said about black people
2. You can sympathize or empathsize.Like (1)

I can see both points.
Dont think its Racist to point out lots of people are oppressed. Backs by Whites, Women by Men, Gay people by Straight people, etc.Like (1)

But it is true though, doesn't matter what race you are. I can only presume what the discrimination against Latinos is like in certain areas and I can't imagine that being very good, to have to deal with that.
And no one should have to deal with being discriminated against. Does not matter to me, if one has it worse, or another just a smaller ammount of discrimination, none of it is any good.
I don't understand how what I am saying is racist to them.
