For ME it is. But for some people no. I think most people would be kind of surprised that you decorate anytime before thanksgiving. I would start decorating for halloween mid-september as halloween in my thing. if christmas is your thing, people would get used to you decorating that early.
So is it too early? For most people and in general yes it is, but there are no rules. You can do what you wish. If you decided you thought you were santa you could keep it decorated all year round. No shame in being eccentric of course!!

To me, yes. Much too early. However, I'm not you and I don't share your living space. If you want to decorate go for it.

However, I think you should keep it indoors for now. Even for people who like to get an early start with these things, putting up giant plastic glowing Santa Clauses and flashing lights and Manger scenes in your yard and whatnot before December 1 is really tacky. Heck, even when it's in season it can be pretty tacky, and I'm sure that most of your neighbours don't wish to endure the gauche of Christmas yet to come before they've even started planning Thanksgiving dinner.

I don't really see what harm it can do, but I have heard it is bad luck too keep them up after the twelfth day of christmas.

Some never took down from last year (never do). So, if the feeling strikes ... it's okay.

We had lights up in our neighborhood as early as Oct. 1. Now, a half-dozen homes between my house and the coffee shop are lit at night. I think it is too early. Maybe after the first week in December would be about right?
