David Bowie IS a rock god. And he is currently worth almost a billion dollars.
That's a whole load of money, kiddos. Not to mention, his music is great.

At one time, Bowie was listed as the richest rock star, but no longer has this status (he's now something like 7th on the list), below Sir Paul, Elton John, Mick, Keith, and maybe Sting. A know-it-all I used to work with told me Bowie lost a fortune in the collapse of the dot com bubble, but this guy also used to tell me other absurd stuff (like he knew what certain rock stars were thinking) so I'm not 100% if I believe it.
