Is it true Leonardo da Vinci took the first ever photograph & it of himself & it's known as The Turin Shroud?

NiƩpce (pronounced Nee-ps) is universally credited with producing the first successful photograph in June/July 1827. He was fascinated with lithography, and worked on this process. Unable to draw, he needed the help of his artist son to make the images.

No. The shroud pre-dates Leonardo, even if it is a medieval fake (& it has been suggested that the carbon dating was inaccurate, because the shroud was damaged by fire and patched up). One theory is that it could have been created by a 13th century photographic technique.

A video message from Ray Rodgers who was a director of the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STRP) that analysed the shroud was recorded shortly before his death in 2005 He states that, after declaring the cloth a fake, he was now coming to the conclusion that there was a very good chance that this was the piece of cloth that was used to bury Jesus.

I've heard this theory but I don't believe it. Sorry, I can't back it up with any scientific basis, just what I think.

No. This is just a silly, half-baked theory that's been floating around for a long time. There's no solid scientific or historical basis for it (despite what you may have heard - and despite what a few websites will tell you). The Shroud of Turin pre-dates Leonardo DaVinci by more than a century, and there's no evidence that the Shroud's owners would ever have handed over something so valuable to a struggling artist from another state. DaVinci might have understood optics well enough to produce a photographic image, but there's no evidence that he ever did so (either on this shroud, or on anything for that matter). IMHO, it's just a few wishful thinkers wanting to conveniently tie together two famous elements of Italian history.
