Yes, that's definitely so. My mother was 5'7" at one point (I remember); I've been 5'5" since age 12, I still am---and Mom's shorter than me now.

Definitely. It happens for a variety of reasons, but when people have back problems or arthritis it's definitely more noticeable because of changes in their spines and their posture and so on. My dad was 6'4 1/2" when he was in his 30's but now he is 66 and is around 6'1" or 6'2".
