No, it's not. I don't believe in reincarnation myself, but I can't prove it doesn't happen, so who am I to tell others what to believe?

I think that in a personal belief system nothing is wrong...you believe what you believe - if it works for you then you shouldnt question too much if its right or wrong in the eyes of others.

No, it's wrong to be narrow minded.

I don't know at the moment if the Bible talks about it, but didn't Jesus believe in reincarnation? At least it is said that he himself raised from the dead. (I guess it depends on which source of information you give your trust @ Jesus and reincarnation.)

No, becau se reincarnation is possible. Anything is possible. Christian beliefs are based on faith not fact.

maxxcrash- I don't see the correlation between Christiantiy and Buddahism?

Buddahism believe in "MANY" gods while we as Christian believes in One God. He is the Father or our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ his Son. We also believe in the Holy Spirit which he uses as a mediator between him and us here on earth. These three make up one. We don't pray to one god to make it start raining as Buddists do, as well as we don't ask another to make it stop. So you see there is a BIG difference and for you to classify me as the "same" as any other belief or religion is offensive to me.

You shouldn't try to explain ANY religion or beliefs based on secular theologies. You can't explain what you don't know based on never having revealed to you by God himself. If you don't open your heart to God, the mysteries of the bible and all it's truths will never be revealed to you. So it's not as you can just read the bible and fully understand it. There are things that are revealed and shown to you in way that you can't get out of just reading about it in the bible, but that's only after opening your heart to God.

Christian beliefs and reincarnation do not agree with one another. So no it goes against the teaching of the Bible and of Jesus Christ. "It is appointed to man once to die than the judgement." That would exclude living over and over again.

The supposive purpose of reincarnation is to pay for things we did right or wrong in the past lives. And yet we are not given direct information about these descions in order to correct or build on them. If this was a true system it is greatly flawed in that the memories are erased and you will continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. And you can not build a better life because you can not take the things you learned from one life to the next. So than what is the reasoning or purpose of it all.

many of the christians I know believe such. :)

so no - you are perfectly right to pick and choose - religion is not a packaged deal - but little grains of wisdom are found within each.

if your really concerned with the christian view on the matter - there should be a local priest who can help you

I think you go to where you think you will go - when you die :)

There is no "wrong" where exploring faith or spirituality is concened (unless it interferes with basic human rights). But it is inconsistent. I know someone who is into chritianity, reincarnation, tarot and eastern mysticism. It seems to work for them but I still get the feeling that they are uncomfortable with this "lucky bag" approach. I find the same myself: I'm attracted to paganism but find it inconsistent with my view of the world from a science perspective.

No because most Christians would make great Hindus and Buddhists. If you study the history of religions as a whole you would see a lineage between them all. The mysticism that surrounds the New Testament coincides with Buddhism more so than the mysticism of the Old Testament. In fact a majority of the parables that Jesus told can be found in Buddhist text that date much older than Christianity and Jesus himself. Really one of the big differences between the Hebrew belief system and the New Testament belief system has to do with the idea of hierarchy. The idea of a savior is that they allow a believer to be set free from a cast system. Historically that is why the people of that time were willing to adopt these beliefs because of the oppression placed on them by the Romans. Gentiles are now included in what was reserved only for the Jews. That is a belief adopted strait from Buddhism. That is one of the things also that separate Hinduism from Buddhism. But in reality all three, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity actually coincide in their dogmas’ more so than compared to the Hebrew system of thought. If you were to ask a Hindu about their polytheistic gods they would tell you that there is only one god and the other, what we call gods, are manifestations of that god. They would actually tell you they see themselves as monotheists. It’s not much different when comparing it to the idea of the trinity. In fact the trinity story and the creation story in Hinduism is not that much different from each other. If more Christians did their homework they would see that Christianity is, please excuse my language I mean no offense, a bastard religion. Meaning, Christian beliefs are a collage of different religions that have influenced it. In conclusion most Christians would make better Hindus and Buddhists than Jews and reincarnation would not be a far stretch for a Christian.

Reincarnation is fake. Men never become lower creatures, and lower creatures cannot become men.

I don't see how you can have Christian beliefs and yet also have beliefs that are counter to what Christianity is supposed to be about! As someone else pointed out, this is a 'pick n mix' attutude!

maxxcrash, you try to compare Christianity with Buddhism, yet the actual origins of Christianity are plain for all to see! Every motiff in the 'Jesus story' has been directly lifted from earlier Pagan mystery religions! The known world in Jesus' supposed time, and for a long time before, was awash with dying/ressurecting God men! From Isis and Osiris to Mithraism...even Pythagoras walked on water (according to his 'disciples') long before Jesus made his 'supposed' appearance! And the early Christian Church fathers were well aware of all this and did their damndest to destroy all knowledge of so called 'Pagan' beliefs? It was thanks to the 'Arabs' that we in the west finally got to hear of the 'roots' of Christianity, for they preserved the works of the ancient 'Pagan' philosophers after the Roman Church had gone on an **** of destruction, killing and book burning! Most of the Greek and Roman philosophers incidentally, who were around to see the inception of Christianity, mocked it for it's obvious plagiarism!
