Is looking young really a bad thing?

To start off, I do look pretty young for my age (actually 22, but I look about 16 years old). The other day, one of my good friends said she's glad that she looks exactly her age (22), especially when she gets dolled up and she kept wanting me to reassure her that she does look 22. I found that insulting, especially since I felt she was implying it's bad to look younger.

What's so bad about looking young, and what should I say to her next time??? Thanks!

I'm 32 and still asked for ID she is just jealous.

That's the only reason I can think that a woman would WANT to look her age at 22. And I've heard women can be catty, so that's what I read 'between the lines'.
