Hardly anyone needs any of the math they learn in high school or college. A few engineers, perhaps. Nobody else. Total waste of your time, like most everything else they use to keep your attention while they dumb you down.

Well, lets not get crazy here. You do use it daily. When driving for example! You use it to judge movement of other cars merging and passing and so forth. Making food measuring values, and other things. You just dont realize how much you use it for. But I do agree it isn't something you need to memorize completely.

You'll probably never need calculous or trigopnometry but basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) is essential for every day living. As well as some basic algebra is important for problem solving - you probaby do it all the time without even realizing it. Understanding fractions and decimal is important.

My recipe calls for 3 1/2 cups of flour. I want to make half. how much flour do I use? That sort of thing.

Without basic understanding of decimals and addition/subtraction how would you ever buy anything? How do you know what the correct change is? I'm surprised at how many cashiers don't know how to make change for a dollar. Once at the store, the bill came to 8 dolalrs and 45 cents, I cgave her a ten dollar bill. She punched it in the register as \$100 by mistake and then couldn't figure out how much change to give me. They do what the register tells them and can't figure it out if there's an error.

Basic math is essential, advanced math is not unless you're going in to some profession that requires that specialized knowledge.

That would have to be a matter of opinion. if you'd be content to live in a cave somwhere, and eat whatever you find, whenever you find it, perhaps you could live without math. Otherwise you need it.

It's important, however I believe the testing for it isn't as important as it used to be. With smart phones at your fingertips, the access of the internet, I don't believe the need to memorize as much is necessary. Learn it when your young, but then move on. If you enjoy it, it will stick with you but if not...... look it up later if you must online.

Math is freaking awesome.

And of course you need it in your regular life.
Maybe not integration and differenciation and all that, but addition and subtraction atleast.

absolute necessity, if not in practical daily use then for critical thinking skills.

Math is at the center of most things. I'm not saying math is the most important thing, but it is inherently part of nature. Even music is rooted in mathematical relationships. You cell phone, computer, chemistry, physics, medications, etc... all mathematical.
