Resolved Question

Is my "partner" an alcoholic?

I am in a long distance relationship with my partner who is 9.5 years younger than me. I am 39 - he lives interstate. Since much of our relationship is based on the phone, we speak for hours everyday, it was not apparent to me that he was drinking every night until the wee hours of the morning. When I realised we discussed this and he agreed to only drink on weekends.
Whilst he might have cut down on the volume he drinks during the week, never more than around two days passes where he does not consume alcohol. Sometimes this is only 3 beers but usually 4 nights out of 7 he often writes himself off. He seems to get really angry and abusive sometimes calling me, ranting and raving or acusing me of being unfaithful.
By his own admission he cannot wait to get home on a Friday and start drinking, even if this is on his own. He has never had a sober weekend since he was 14. He does work but seems to miss a lot - not sure if he simply can't be bothered going or not.Lately he seems very moody

Babe, alcoholics don't need to drink a whole lot to be drunk , just top themselves up.the alcohol is revived that was already there. He's been doing it since 14, and it doesn't sound good for him, or you.whatever you decide to do,sometimes the only thing you can do is what's best for you.

He sounds like he needs AA.

if he missed you as much as the beer there probably wouldn't be a problem.

Your partner is an alcoholic, read up on it (not A.A.), then support him or get out. End of!

How do you be unfaithful in a phone-sex relationship? Please elaborate.

Seems to qualify but I would rather not judge. If you Love him you may have to let him go, until he gets help. He WILL end up hurting you mentally if he does'nt stop.Maybe not tomorrow but someday. I've been alcohol free for over 7 years and understand drinking and it's consequences all too well.

If he can't live without it for very long, then there's a good possibility that he is one- or at the very least a "problem drinker"

Is this a long distance relationship that started in person but then you were forced apart? Or is it an online thing where you barely even know him "in real life" - if that's the case, I'd just move on.... you can find another "online love" in no time!
