The other answers so far are incorrect.

Trichinosis does exist in pork, but has been effectively wiped out from the North American pork industry, and has been for a while. It basically comes from pigs eating garbage and refuse, and their feed is controlled enough now that trichinosis is a non-entity. I would not eat wild boar raw or pork from countries with less controlled food industries.

That said pork isn't as nice rare. It is best cooked medium - pink in the middle. You will find most fine restaurants serve pork like this.

I have done a lot of research on this subject. Not from a religious point of view but from a scientific point of view. What I have written comes from various scientific websites I quoted from the Bible and not from the Quran for the religious point of view. In India pigs are used to clean the fields because there are no "proper sanitary facilities" in some villages. Pigs eat it. Absolutely disgusting. I printed out about 23 or more pages on this subject about pork. When I reverted to Muslim I wanted to know why I couldn' t eat pork so therefore did research on it. And now I can't even stand the smell of pork. It disgusts me so much.

Pork is very unhealthy, well cooked, raw or any other way. Causes all kinds of disease, cancer, stroke, heart attack, worms and other. Jews don't eat pork, Muslims don't eat pork and it is forbidden to feed your cat or dog on pork because of parasites and worms. So if it is not good for Jews, Muslims cats or dogs, how can it be fit for human consumption by non-Jews or non-Muslims? I used to eat pork until I researched it scientifically. Pigs are filthy in their eating habits. They eat there own excretement and dead animals and don't know when to stop eating. Their digestive system is very short about 6 - 8 hours so the toxins are not expelled out of their bodies. In the Bible (Old Testament) Leveticus and Deuteronomy it states that
and of the swine though it divideth the hoof but cheweth not the cud of its flesh you shall not eat and the carcase you shall not touch it is unclean to you. Also a pig is an animal that is said to be most like a human and it is supposed that the flesh of a pig tastes like human flesh.

As far as making sure all parasites are dead.... No.... but if the pig was healthy, and handled properly, there should be no problems.
