It is a compliment. If I told a guy he was "adorable," it would probably mean that I was really into him. It's like when I told one guy I found him amusing, he took it the wrong way, but I meant it as a totally positive thing.

Na dont use Adorable, no matter what lol Even if you meant it as a compliment its such a no go thing to say to a guy that he probibly wont be able to see it as a compliment.

I was actually talking to my boyfriend about this the other day. He says that it makes him feel less manly to be called "adorable" or "cute"
